I tend to favour subfascial breast augmentation in patients who are very athletic or have physical jobs to avoid losing muscle strength. The standard submuscular or “dual plane” approach causes about a 30% loss in strength. This 34-year-old woman desired breast augmentation to balance out breast asymmetry and to also balance out her body due to the fact that her buttocks and thighs were full and muscular. Six months prior, she underwent a subfascial augmentation with a 350 cc Mentor moderate profile plus implant on the right and a 325 cc device on the left.
