Patient is a very muscular and athletic 35-year-old woman who is actively involved in the “physique” category of bodybuilding who desired a natural looking enhancement to embellish her competition body. She had seen many of her colleagues undergo submuscular breast augmentations, and was mortified by the unnatural look and animation deformities. She did not want to sacrifice muscle strength. Many people don’t know this, but the standard submuscular breast augmentation damages about 30% of the muscle’s strength. She underwent a subfascial breast augmentation with a 300 cc moderate profile plus Mentor gel implant. She ended up with a very natural look, no animation deformities, no rippling, etc. The subfascial approach is my go to technique for athletes.
